I decided to recover it using an old map of the coast of Brazil which also depicts part of my son's family heritage. Step 1) I put the clock on top of the map and traced its shape.
|
Step 2) Spread regular Elmer's glue on the clock and glue the map on to it. I slit a hole in the map so the clock hands could slide through the middle of the map. Quickly smooth the map out as much as you can on the clock. Trim the edges and glue map over on the sides. I cut a tiny piece of the map out near the clock hands to hide a small hole. Let dry.

|
Another close-up view. As you can see, I did not get it perfectly smooth, but I actually like it that way because it looks like a raised topological map. If you wanted, you can use a credit card wrapped in fabric to smooth it out perfectly.

Here is the new & improved surfboard clock! I love it!

No Sew Bed Skirt. My Finished No Sew Bed Skirt! Looks pretty good ha?!
|
Step 1) Cut and measure your fabric. Get out your iron and let it get hot. Allign the no-sew tape on your fabric. Put the no-sew tape paper side up and let the iron sit on it for several seconds to bond. I found that it took longer to bond to my fabric then package directions indicated.

|
Step 2) Remove paper of no-sew tape after it is completely cool. Fold fabric over and start ironing again. I had to let my hot iron sit on the folded fabric for about a minute until it bonded. Repeat this step until the entire length of fabric is bonded.

This sleigh bed could not have a typical bed skirt because of the slats that support the mattress, so I tacked & nailed the bed skirt straight into the wood.
|
I wrapped the inside of the bed frame with my bed skirt using tacks & nails. Remember, nobody will see this.

Finished! I think it looks really nice & professional!

I love mixing fabrics!

T Shirt Artwork. Finished Artwork!
|
Step 1) Lay out t-shirt, canvas, scissors, and staple gun with staples loaded.
Decide how the t-shirt design best fits on the canvas.
|
Step 2) Cut your t-shirt. I bought 3 t-shirts on clearance with a surfer beach theme for my son's room.
|
Step 3) Staple t-shirt around canvas. Start on one side, then staple the opposite side.
Repeat with the opposite sides and staple the corners.
Make sure your fabric is tight and the design is aligned correctly on the front.

Finished stapled back side of canvas.

Finished! Cool and inexpensive artwork!

Recovering Chair Seats. I finally recovered my chairs with a vinyl faux leather-easy to clean with kids!
|
Two chairs I'm recovering-the new and old.
|
Step 1) Lay your fabric top side down and staple one side with a couple of staples as shown. Step 2) Staple the opposite side of fabric with a couple of staples making sure the fabric is tight.
|
Step 3) Continue stapling and trim the fabric as you go. Don't cover up the screw holes which attaches the chair to its frame! I used a lot of staples to make sure it stays secure.
|
Close-up of staples. Obviously, it does not need to look perfect unless you want it to be!
|
The corners are the most important-make sure the fabric is pulled back tightly and staple it many times to make sure it is secure. Step 4) Attach seat to its frame. Then you're done!
|
DIY Balloon Shades and no sewing! |
I just bought ribbon and tied a knot with a bow the length I wanted the shade to hang. |
Gather the fabric at the bottom and you're done! (This is a stationary shade.) |
Circus Nursery. Vintage Circus Theme Crib Bedding I purchased on Ebay. It was the inspiration for the nursery! |
Circus Theme Nursery for my son! Tip: Layer pieces over time. |
I used old blocks to personalize the nursery. |
I bought this frame at Ikea and printed out these free vintage circus illustrations on my home computer. |
I got the toy bin for free-someone was throwing it out and I recovered it. I bought the rocking chair at a community garage sale for $10 and recovered it. Tip: Go to community garage sales for major deals and practice your bargaining skills! |
Ikea chest. Can you tell I like Ikea? |
I used left-over fabric to wrap around this canvas and ironed on the letters. |
